The Studio at Pepsico/Makers: Rockstar Energy Drink

Finding innovative production solutions that allow you to do more with less is a particular focus for in-house teams. Makers worked with The Studio at Pepsico on this Rockstar Energy campaign which used an LED volume wall to shoot actors in 15 different ‘locations’ for three different spots, all without having to leave the studio.

The team worked with Robot Studios in Miami, along with director, Aaron Platt to create backgrounds for all 15 locations using #unrealengine. “We were even able to make tweaks and edits to the backgrounds in real time during the shoot, which gave us an amazing amount of creative contro,” Makers say. “Then, in the studio, we shot our actor in front of an LED wall displaying our scene. Using the exact same camera move, we did this for each actor in each location.

Traditionally it could reasonably take a week to shoot 15 locations with a full crew, actors, and an extremely sensitive camera move. With this LED wall, the shoot only took two days.”

These behind-the-scenes clips give an idea of the set-up and process involved.
